Steel Market Analyst

Our client is an international company leading Steel manufacturing industry. The Company's business is highly geographically diversified by sales markets with product deliveries to over 70 countries worldwide.

We are looking for a Market Analyst (Fundamentals Analyst) dedicated to the Steel business.

Contract type: Full-time, Permanent.

Workplace: Onsite. Istanbul, Turkey (Levent, European side)

Ideal experience: 3-5 years in Market and Data Analysis. Previous experience in the Steel industry is a big plus.

Language Skills: Turkish mother-tongue, and English fluent (B2-C1 level).

This role will report directly to the General Manager of the Turkish entity, while coordinating the activities with the Head of Marketing of the global group.

He/She will maintain the confidentiality of company matters and will exercise discretion and judgment while working under minimal general supervision. The candidate will work in an international team with short communication channels in which your work can have a real impact on the business development.

What you will be doing:

• Conduct fundamental analysis of individual companies, focusing on business factors such as: performance, competitive industry positioning, quality of company management, and anything that can affect the security value.
• Assemble and review market data, conducting statistical analyses, and completing studies of steel or steel-related industry.
• Develop knowledge and skills necessary for business development analysis and research.
• Identify opportunities through analysis of specific company fundamentals and steel industry dynamics.
• Lead generation – searching of new potential clients, making their purchase and consumption profiles.
• Provide steel and raw materials market overviews: steel production, consumption by industries and clients, export / import statistics.
• Production capacities map, data-base of duties.
• Price forecasting, market fundamentals analysis (supply-demand balance).
• Projects – collect and provide data for investment projects, participate IT solutions development and implementation.
• Day-to-day: set and organise data models, search patterns and make conclusions that support decision-making; create predictive models and provide forecasts.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree related to Mathematics, Engineering or Physics (Metallurgy and Materials Engineering is preferred). Strong mathematical background required.
• Experiences: 3 years of working background with a similar role in Market Analysis within manufacturing or commodity trading companies.
• Skills in Market analysis, demand/supply balance, apparent use calculation, trade balance, presentation skills, strategy preparation.
• Experience in steel or steel-related industries (raw materials – iron ore, scrap) is a big plus.
• Ability to work out and make conclusions from big volumes of numerical and text information.
• Ability to analyse large datasets.
• Development skills: Knowledge of Python is a plus.
• Reporting: Good knowledge in reporting software such as PowerBI is a plus.
• Languages: Fluent in English and Turkish.
• Demonstrate problem solving skills with an ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good verbal and communication skills; must communicate across all levels in the organisation with personal gravitas and credibility.
• Strong analytic and numerical skills.
• Ability to multitask, attention to detail and logical thinker.
